Welcome

Thank you for visiting my blog. It seems everyone & their dog has one now so I thought I'd dip my toe (& Stella's paw) into the water too :)

This will be my place for sharing thoughts, events, photos, Stella-stuff and more. A place to link you to my photos & things that are scattered around cyberspace too.

it's Thursday... it's Top Of The Pops

Top 25 albums

I've pinched this idea from a friend on facebook but I don't think many of mine are the same as his. I haven't allowed myself to use "Best Of"s, hence the lack of Abba and Beatles, or included anything I don't own on CD. I haven't duplicated artists and these are all albums, which, in my opinion, you don't need to skip any tracks on, they're all just a good listen from start to finish :)

I'll list them in alphabetical order as to decide on order of favourite is nigh on impossible, choosing just 25 was difficult enough!

1. Adam & The Ants - Kings Of The Wild Frontier

My favourite Adam Ant album & the tracks still sound as good today :)

2. Appleton - Everything's Eventual

These are the sisters from All Saints. Don't think this album was particularly well received by the critics but I love it.

3. Glen Campbell - Meet Glen Campbell

Simple awesome collection of covers, probably the most played CD I own.

4. The Corrs - Talk On Corners

I love the "special edition" of this album as it includes "Dreams" and also a couple of brilliant remixes.

5. Duran Duran - Duran Duran

Probably my favourite Duran Duran album purely for the track "Friends Of Mine". Should've been a single!

6. The Feeling - Twelve Stops And Home

Simply a brilliant pop album.

7. Go West - Indian Summer

Not as well known as the band's '80s albums but I absolutely love it.

8. Keane - Hopes And Fears

A fantastic debut. Big fan of this band but they haven't topped this yet.

9. Nik Kershaw - You've Got To Laugh

If you think Mr Kershaw is just '80s pop, please listen to this. Fantastic & often funny lyrics too :)

10. Annie Lennox - Diva

Lost custody of this album to the ex-husband but I had to get my own copy. Just fabulous.

11. Level 42 - Retroglide

Most people know my 2 favourite Level 42 tracks are Something About You and Kansas City Milkman from their '80s back catalogue. However, as a whole album, this recent offering is superb.

12. Low Millions - Ex Girlfriends

Probably the most useful thing I got out of my Myspace years was an introduction to this band. I don't think they made any other albums but this is outstanding.

13. Madonna - Ray Of Light

Very hard to choose just one Madonna album, but, as a whole, this just takes the crown.

14. Martina McBride - Wild Angels

My favourite female country artist. I love Faith, Shania, Leanne, Dolly & Trisha but this lady sings with the most emotion in my opinion and that's why I love her the most.

15. Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying

& the same applies here. Keith is on the list but the other country boys just don't touch my heartstrings like this great man.

16. George Michael - Older

I may have had to unfollow him on Twitter for persistent sweary outbursts but I'll always love George's music! :)

17. Pulp - Different Class

Oasis v Blur? Pulp were Britpop in a different class! ;)

18 - REM - Monster

To be honest I only bought this album for the utterly fantastic "What's The Frequency Kenneth?" but soon found myself loving the whole thing.

19. Savage Garden - Affirmation

The title track is one of my favouritest songs of all time and featured in a previous blog in the song challenge as song you think everyone should have to listen to.

20. Scritti Politti - Cupid & Psyche '85

Love this album. Perfect pop :)

21. Take That - Beautiful World

Robbie fans will probably disagree but I don't think Take That have bettered this first comeback album :)

22. Tears For Fears - The Hurting

Simply superb.

23. Toyah - Anthem

As is this. Toyah can't do much wrong but I'm always more drawn to her earlier material. I guess because that's when I was more influenced and she's a very influential lady :)

24. Tracie - Far From The Hurting Kind

Tracie started her career as a backing singer for Paul Weller, first with The Jam and the The Style Council. I love this solo album but I don't think she made any more. I believe she's now a radio DJ in Essex.

25. Keith Urban - Days Go By

I hadn't heard of Keith Urban until Richard Marx mentioned him on Steve Wright's radio show during an interview. It was through Richard Marx that I discovered Vince Gill (& if this was a Top 30, they'd both be here too!) and so I thought he'd be worth a listen. I wasn't disappointed.

So, any of these in your Top 25? Or even in your record collection?
